WIKE DENIES ALLEGATIONS OF LAND ALLOCATION TO HIS CHILDREN, LABELS CLAIMS AS BLACKMAIL

Abuja, July 1, 2025 — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has again dismissed allegations that he allocated land to any of his children, describing the claims as a politically motivated smear campaign.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the minister said the recurring reports were baseless attempts at blackmail and had failed to distract him from his ongoing developmental agenda for the FCT.
Wike had earlier refuted allegations that he allocated 2,082 hectares of land in the Maitama and Asokoro districts to his son through a company named Joaq Farms and Estates Limited. The latest accusation involves a supposed allocation of land to another of his sons via a separate entity, Jordan Farms and Estates Limited.
Olayinka denied both allegations, insisting they were fabricated to discredit the minister’s work. He clarified that while land had been allocated to Jordan Farms and Estates Limited, the company is a legally registered Nigerian business with no ties to any of Wike’s children.
“That one of the sons of the FCT Minister is named Jordan, and there is a company named Jordan Farms and Estates Limited, is no reason to assume the company belongs to his son,” Olayinka said. “The records of ownership are available at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and we challenge those behind these stories to publish the names of the actual owners.”
He further stated that the use of coincidental company names to imply ownership by Wike’s children was misleading and illogical. “There are companies like Jordan Telecommunications, Jordan Foods, and even a Jordan’s Farms in the United Kingdom — none of which are linked to the minister’s children,” he argued.
Olayinka also accused unnamed political actors of being behind the allegations, suggesting they were driven by resentment over Wike’s support for power rotation between the North and South.
“This sponsored blackmail has failed,” he said. “Those seeking to undermine the FCT Minister will need to try harder. Nothing will derail his commitment to the development of the FCT under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Reiterating that every Nigerian, including Wike’s children, has a constitutional right to own land if they meet legal requirements, Olayinka emphasized that “as at today, no land has been allocated to any of the Minister’s children.”
