The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has expressed its readiness to partner with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) in an effort to enhance Nigeria’s infrastructure development through Public Private Partnership (PPP). This announcement was made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, during a meeting with the ICRC management at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja yesterday.
Minister Keyamo emphasized that PPP is the best approach for driving infrastructure development in Nigeria and revealed plans to establish a task force dedicated to this collaboration. The task force will work within a set timeline to ensure swift and efficient delivery of projects.
In a statement released by the Ministry's spokesperson, Odutayo Oluseyi, it was noted that upon assuming office, Minister Keyamo inherited several legal disputes, many of which he has since resolved. He urged the ICRC to ensure all legal processes are followed in the pursuit of PPP initiatives, signaling the Ministry's commitment to transparency and adherence to due process.
The Minister also commended the ICRC for its efforts and reaffirmed the Aviation Ministry’s dedication to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s *Renewed Hope Agenda*, aimed at driving national development.
Dr. Jobson Ewalefoh, Director-General of the ICRC, highlighted the importance of the meeting, stating that the Ministry of Aviation is crucial to Nigeria’s economic progress and a key driver of the *Renewed Hope Agenda*. He emphasized that with the right infrastructure in place, Nigeria could attract more investors, particularly in the aviation sector.
"We see this partnership as pivotal to addressing the infrastructure gaps in the country, and we commend Mr. President for his dedication to improving the nation's infrastructure," said Dr. Ewalefoh. He further revealed that the ICRC has cleared existing administrative bottlenecks and expressed confidence in the potential of PPPs to address the country's infrastructure challenges.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward in improving Nigeria's aviation infrastructure and strengthening the sector’s role in national economic growth.
