One of West Africa’s leading voices in broadband advocacy and internet infrastructure, Temitope Osunrinde, has stepped down from his position as Chief Marketing Officer at Tizeti, signaling a new chapter in his mission to advance digital transformation across Africa.
Osunrinde, who spent three impactful years at the solar-based internet service provider, described his departure as the end of “an incredible journey,” citing the experience as one marked by growth, innovation, and tangible progress in bridging the continent’s digital divide.
“Every challenge was an opportunity to learn, lead, and contribute,” he said in a farewell note. “I am proud to have represented the brand meaningfully and amplified its presence beyond Nigeria.”
During his tenure, Osunrinde led major initiatives that expanded Tizeti’s footprint into new Nigerian states, forged strategic partnerships, and drove consistent year-on-year revenue growth. Under his leadership, the company strengthened its position as a key player in providing affordable, solar-powered broadband to underserved communities.
Before joining Tizeti, Osunrinde built a formidable reputation in digital infrastructure through roles at MainOne, where he helped launch enterprise internet services and spearheaded regional access expansion. At MDXi, MainOne’s data center subsidiary, he advanced the company’s cloud and colocation capabilities. His contributions played a significant role in positioning MainOne for its landmark $320 million acquisition by Equinix in 2021—Equinix’s first move into the African market.
Osunrinde also worked as a consultant at Verraki Africa, advising corporate and public sector clients on technology-driven growth strategies. He said his move to Tizeti was a deliberate shift toward understanding the consumer-facing side of internet delivery.
“I knew I lacked firsthand exposure to the consumer end, where the rubber meets the road,” he explained. “At Tizeti, I experienced the real-world hurdles that ISPs contend with—backhaul limitations, infrastructure costs, right-of-way issues, vandalism, and even local interference. But I also witnessed the joy of connecting the unconnected—people for whom a simple internet connection used to mean an all-day journey.”
Reflecting on Africa’s broader connectivity landscape, Osunrinde emphasized that the technology used—whether fiber, mobile, satellite, or fixed wireless—should be secondary to the mission of getting people online. “It doesn’t matter how you get there; what matters is that people are connected.”
Though he has not yet disclosed his next professional step, Osunrinde made clear that his dedication to Africa’s digital growth remains unwavering.
“There is still so much to be done to improve connectivity in Nigeria and Africa,” he said. “My commitment to this cause remains stronger than ever. I look forward to creating, collaborating, and supporting initiatives that unlock the continent’s full digital potential.”
His resignation comes as Tizeti continues its push to expand regional coverage, leveraging solar-powered infrastructure and innovative last-mile solutions to improve broadband penetration across West Africa.
