Lotus Bank, one of Nigeria's non-interest financial institutions, has officially announced its sponsorship of the Nigerian Medical Students Association (NIMSA) Games, set to begin on October 5, 2024. The bank’s Managing Director, Mrs. Kafilat Araoye, shared the news in a statement, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to youth development, health, and sportsmanship.
Mrs. Araoye highlighted that the NIMSA Games, a major event for medical students nationwide, will promote physical fitness, teamwork, and leadership among future healthcare professionals. "Sports are essential for enhancing collaboration, leadership, and overall wellness," she said, underscoring the bank’s focus on supporting healthy lifestyles for Nigeria’s youth.
Alongside the NIMSA Games sponsorship, Lotus Bank has expanded its operations by opening a new business outlet on Admiralty Way in Lekki, Lagos. This move, Mrs. Araoye noted, is part of the bank's broader goal of making non-interest banking more accessible to the rapidly growing Lekki community and its neighbouring areas.
“We are excited to open our new branch in Lekki, a thriving business hub,” said Mrs. Araoye. “This new location allows us to offer ethical banking services to a wider audience and reinforces our commitment to financial inclusion and economic empowerment.”
The new Lekki branch will offer a range of non-interest banking products aimed at catering to individuals and businesses while promoting the values of ethical banking.
Mrs Araoye also reflected on the bank’s recent participation in the Federation of African Student Universities (FASU) Games, which brought together students from various African nations, including Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana, and Mauritius. The games showcased the strength of African student unity and leadership.
In addition, Lotus Bank successfully hosted the Abeokuta Marathon, which concluded last week. The marathon, aimed at promoting wellness and community engagement, saw its first-ever Nigerian winner since its inception, marking a major milestone in the event's history.
“Our continued support of these events reflects Lotus Bank’s dedication to community development and the empowerment of young people,” said Mrs. Araoye. “We look forward to the start of the NIMSA Games and to celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and leadership among Nigeria's future medical professionals.”
Lotus Bank’s ongoing efforts in sports sponsorship and financial accessibility highlight the institution's mission to foster both personal and economic growth across Nigeria.
