The Federal Government, through its agency, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed off Sahad Store in Garki area of Abuja, allegedly for price fixing.

This follows President Bola Tinubu’s reaction to activities of food marketers that have contributed to escalating food prices and hardship.

According to the Acting Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC, Adamu Ahmed Abdullahi, the management of Sahad Store has been involved in sharp practices which involved misleading pricing and charging customers different prices from what's displayed on the shelves.

Abdullahi, while briefing the press on its preliminary investigation, said, “What we have found out that these people are doing is misleading pricing and lack of transparency in the pricing, which is against Section 115 (3) of the law that says a consumer is not required to pay a price for any good or service higher than the one that’s on display.”

He concluded by saying that the shop will remain locked till further notice.

SAHAD Stores are a HALAL compliant shopping centeres which cater adherents of the islamic sharia law, which means they don't sell things forbidden by the muslim faith, e.g., Alcohol, Pork meat, and the rest.

They are also known for selling local items well parkaged from North and Arabian teas, spices, snacks, fruits, etc which makes non Muslims to shop there also.
