The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has called on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to disclose the exact price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) produced by the Dangote Refinery. This request comes amid growing public concern over the latest hike in petrol prices.
During an interview on Channels Television’s *The Morning Brief* on Thursday, PETROAN President Billy Gillis-Harris stressed the importance of transparency and open communication between the Dangote Refinery, retailers, and other key stakeholders.
"As I speak to you this morning, I don’t know what the Dangote price is all about," Gillis-Harris remarked. He urged Dangote to engage with stakeholders such as retail outlet owners, marketers, and consumers to provide clarity on the refinery's pricing structure.
Gillis-Harris noted that while NNPC had released a price template, it did not specify the contribution from the Dangote Refinery. He emphasized the need for business transparency, stating that while Dangote is a private entity, its operations are significant to the Nigerian economy and should involve collaboration and communication with all parties affected.
"There should be some level of business transparency even if it is a private business, which we are proud to have in Nigeria. But we need to start seeing how it works," he concluded
