A shocking crime has rocked Imo State, with the brutal murder of 55-year-old widow Eucharia Chidi Obasi, also known as Nwanyi Sari Sari, by a suspected ritualist.
The attack, which took place in her apartment in the Umuediabali community of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, left the community in disbelief.
Sources revealed that the assailant, a suspected dealer in human body parts, broke into Obasi's home around midnight on Wednesday, while she was alone.
The perpetrator abducted and brutally murdered her, severing several parts of her body in a gruesome ritualistic act. The mutilated remains of Obasi were discovered shortly after the attack.
A witness, who requested anonymity, described the crime as "horrifying," stating that the suspect severed the widow's private organs, breast, and other body parts.
The witness also recounted that the assailant attempted to flee after committing the act but was caught when he tried to break into another home nearby.
The alarm raised by the victim in her final moments attracted the attention of neighbors, who rushed to her aid. A mob quickly gathered, overpowered the suspect, and beat him into a coma before handing him over to local vigilantes.
At the time of reporting, Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, had not yet commented on the incident.
