"WHY WE INITIALLY DENIED SOLDIERS WERE AT LEKKI TOLLGATE" - ARMY COMMANDER

Brigadier-General Taiwo, of the 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, has given reasons for the initial denial that the Nigerian Army was involved in the Lekki tollgate shooting on October 20, where Endsars youths were peacefully protesting.
The Commander said this during his testimony before the Lagos state Judicial panel.
He said: "The first statement was born out of the fact that we did not have the facts available to us and the second was because nobody was sent to the Lekki tollgate to breakup any protest”.
How genuine could this excuse be? One would expect that a No-Comment would have sufficed until the "facts were available" to the Army. This again is why Nigerians find it hard to trust the government in its dealings and reports.
Meanwhile, CNN has released a second video to support their earlier report that the army indeed fired live ammunition at the protesters.
