VIOLENCE: IGBO YOUTH PROFESSIONALS CALL ON ISRAEL AND UK TO WARN NNAMDI KANU

A group of Igbo Youth Professionals have called on the States of Israel and the United Kingdom to rein in on IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, whose inciting comments they say is worrisome as they are responsible for some of the violence riots recorded in parts of Nigeria.

The group, known as the The Conference of Igbo Youth Professionals Worldwide, reminded the world of Kanu's fugitive status and the need to caution him to stop inciting violence in the country.

They said this call became necessary after Nnamdi Kanu enjoined Igbos and southerners and Middle Belt in Nigeria police and military to resign and burn their uniforms.

Below is their statement:

‘‘We are disturbed by the incessant inciting statements coming from Mr Nnamdi Kanu, who has been parading himself as leader of Indigenous People of Biafra against the Nigerian state. Having worked and contributed to see Nigeria at its present state, we believe that the United Kingdom and Israel would not want to see Nigeria shattered. It is in this regard that we are strongly appealing to them to rein in on Kanu, whose activities have been against the unity of Nigeria".

The group said even though people of the southeast have been marginalised in the affairs of Nigeria, they support using lawful and constitutional means to address their grievances and not by violence and anarchy.

"Though our people are highly marginalized and deserve the right for agitation it must be done legally and by the appropriate people not a deviant young man like Nnamdi Kanu who is out for his selfish interest,

“However, while Kanu has a right to legally clamour for whatever he believes in, he should also know that the Igbo Nation has recognized spokespersons in the forms of governors, legislators and Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group. Any serious statements are supposed to come from these people after extensive consultations”, the group said.
