Veteran actress Sola Sobowale brought an emotional moment to the fore at the premiere of Her Excellency, a new film by Nollywood icon Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello. The event, held on Sunday, June 29, celebrated Salami’s 60th year in the Nigerian film industry.
Taking to the stage after the screening, Sobowale publicly went down on her knees in a heartfelt gesture of appreciation to the legendary actor, crediting him for shaping her career and that of many others.
“God used him to take me where I am today,” she said, visibly moved. “I have never done this in my life, but I’m going to do it today. Ese modupe. I am very grateful from the bottom of my heart. You didn’t just touch me, but many others—young and old, male and female. You are a selfless man.”
