REGRET OVER 2020 REEKADO BANKS AND WIZKID FALLOUT

Afrobeats star Reekado Banks has revealed that Grammy-winning artist Wizkid has expressed remorse over their 2020 public fallout, saying the two have since reconciled.

The rift between the two singers began during the height of the #EndSARS protests in Nigeria, when Reekado Banks announced the release of their joint single, Omo Olomo. Wizkid, who had paused music promotion in solidarity with the protests, publicly lashed out at Banks, calling him a “fool” and a “clout animal” for promoting music during a sensitive national moment.

However, in a recent interview on The Esther Show, Reekado Banks said that Wizkid recently visited his restaurant, where the two had a private conversation and buried the hatchet.

“Recently he [Wizkid] came visiting my restaurant. We had a little talk and he was a little regretful about it. He said he shouldn’t have gone that route,” Reekado Banks said.

The singer also noted that Wizkid referenced other past tensions, including his behaviour towards music producer Don Jazzy. According to Banks, Wizkid acknowledged that the loss of their mothers — both artists lost their mothers recently — had offered a moment of reflection and empathy.

“He was like we are three people in the game who recently lost our moms. And he feels sorry about that time, so, we are good now,” Banks added.

The reconciliation marks a positive turn in their relationship, once marred by controversy, and signals unity among key figures in the Nigerian music industry.
