Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has revealed that he doesn’t see music as work, but rather as a way of life — one so fulfilling that he sees no need for a vacation.
Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, the Afro-fusion superstar shared his perspective on creativity, passion, and purpose, explaining that his deep love for music makes it feel more like living than labor.
“I love my job. I don’t consider my job a job. I consider it life,” Burna Boy said. “Why do I need a vacation from life?”
The “Last Last” hitmaker made it clear that he draws a distinction between physically demanding jobs and the joy he finds in his music career.
“It’s not like I am a bricklayer or labourer. That’s what you need vacation from. Not when you’re Burna Boy,” he added. “My job is literally a lifestyle. It’s what I would wish to do if I wasn’t doing it. So, why would I want a vacation from that?”
Burna Boy went on to say that unless circumstances change — such as having a child or getting older — he sees no reason to step away from music, even temporarily.
The 33-year-old artist, known for his global impact on Afrobeats and Afro-fusion, continues to blur the line between passion and profession. His comments offer a glimpse into the mindset behind his relentless work ethic and creative consistency, which have earned him international acclaim and a growing fan base worldwide.
