Six traditional rulers in Ijora/Iganmu have been dethroned after they attended a Labour Party political rally.
The king under whom they serve said they went without his knowledge and they claimed to be representing him which he considered a misrepresentation.
The Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Oba AbdulFatai Oyegbemi, on Monday took the decision to dethrone six chiefs for royal impersonation after the chiefs had attended the campaign flag-off of the Labour Party, LP, in Apapa – ahead of the Lagos State local government polls.
Oba Oyegbemi in a palace meeting made it clear that they went for the event without his consent - he didnt not send them to represent him, which is in violation of palace protocols and impersonation.
The chiefs affected include Chief Taiwo Hassan (Bale Oke Ira),
Chief Saliu Biliamin (Bale Alafia Dodoro)
Chief Lateef Ojora (Bale Alaba Oro).
Chief Idris Ojora (Bale Abule Kere),
Chief Sule Balogun (Balogun of Abule Kere)
Chief Hakeem Oseni (Bale Mosafejo Amukoko).
The palace released a statement saying that the king, Oba Oyegbemi dethroned the six chiefs in a bid to maintain “order and coherence within his leadership structure”.
