Inec Building In Abuja Gutted By Fire
A fire outbreak has been reported today, Friday about noontime at a section of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) complex in Abuja.
Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, director of publicity and voter education of INEC, confirmed the news to Channels TV reporters who said the fire affected only the office of the director of the election and party monitoring in the building. He said "Yes, there was a fire incident. Fortunately, we have a fire unit in the office. It was put out. Some equipment and correspondence were affected. But no sensitive material was affected".
This is the 4th fire outbreak within a space of two weeks. The first was at the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) in Abuja. The second was the fire which razed a part of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) headquarters also in Abuja on Wednesday, April 15 2020. Then an IDP camp in Borno State was also gutted by fire which led to 14 deaths.
