EGBE SECURITY ALERT: SABOTAGE OF COMMUNITY SAFETY

OPINIONS - Posted on: 13th Oct. 2025 at 12:05PM
In the early hours of Thursday, October 9, 2025, just before dawn, Egbe Indigenous Security Guards apprehended eight suspects in the Egbe Woodlands. They were caught smuggling fuel in jerrycans and hard drugs through a bush path leading from Okoa toward the airfield.
These arrests came barely two days after another successful operation against those supplying food and drugs to armed bandits in Yagba West. It was a strong signal that the Egbe community stands ready to defend its land.
Sadly, this victory was short-lived.

Reliable information indicates that Mr. Sunday Adeyeye, Secretary of Yagba West Local Government, and Commander Wole Ajulo of the Kogi State Vigilante Sector D (Egbe), interfered with the case. Mr. Adeyeye allegedly ordered the release of the seized jerricans of fuel, a clear violation of the directive issued by Hon. Tosin Olokun, Chairman of Yagba West LGA, on October 1, 2025, banning such movements.
Worse still, the suspects were released the same day, without any investigation or due process.

This act constitutes a serious sabotage of ongoing anti-terror operations and a betrayal of the community’s trust. It undermines the courage of our indigenous security guards, who risk their lives daily to protect the people.
We cannot fight criminals on one hand and free their collaborators on the other.
The Egbe people deserve transparency and accountability.

We therefore call on the Kogi State Government and Hon. Tosin Olokun to urgently investigate the roles of Mr. Sunday Adeyeye and Commander Wole Ajulo in this shameful compromise and ensure that justice is served.
Egbe must not be sold out. Yagba West must not be betrayed.
