DIMEJI AJIBOLA, DIRECTOR OF SHANTY TOWN PASSES ON

Multi Award-winning director, Dimeji Ajibola has passed on Sunday after battling an undisclosed illness. He was the director of Chi Chi Nworah’s Shanty Town.

Multiple sources close to him confirm his death via their social media platforms.

His colleague, Kabat Esosa Egbon wrote: “This morning, we lost a beloved director and a remarkable talent in Nollywood, Dimeji Ajibola. Known for his creativity and dedication, Dimeji’s contributions to the industry have left an indelible mark.

“He will be laid to rest in accordance with Muslim rites. May God grant his soul peace and comfort to those who mourn him. He will be deeply missed.”

Another friend of the deceased, Samuel Olatunji also wrote, "Dimeji Ajibola was my client and friend. So sad to hear this news. Rest in peace to a great guy! Sad Sunday as the director of Shanty Town passed away”


Dimeji Ajibola’s career span over 18 years working in both film and advertising industry. He was very successful in promoting brands and producing contents for the advertising, television and film. Dimeji Ajibola started as an animator, bring home what brands would otherwise go abroad to achieve. His created animated TV Ads for the MTN Yello ads, Coca-cola TV ads and many others.
He was the CEO and Technical Director of Flipsyde Studios Ltd. His work on Hoodrush in 2012 marked Nigeria’s first urban musical film, showcasing his ability to bridge narrative storytelling with rich musical elements.

The film won multiple awards, including Best Movie at the 2012 Green Me Film Festival in Germany, Best Actor and Soundtrack at the Nollywood Movies Awards, and Best Supporting Actor at the AMAA Awards.
