Actor and politician Desmond Elliot has firmly denied rumors about his sexuality, describing the allegations as a baseless publicity stunt. In a recent interview with TVC, Elliot addressed the speculation, emphasizing that he would not dignify unfounded accusations with a response.
“I won’t give credibility to allegations that don’t affect my life in any way,” he stated. “My focus is on positively impacting lives, not on engaging with frivolous speculation.”
Elliot added that individuals should have the freedom to make their own personal choices, as long as they adhere to the law and respect the rights of others. “If you feel you identify as something, as long as it’s within the law, that’s your choice. People don’t have to accept it, but do what you wish,” he explained.
When asked directly about the rumors, the actor declared, “I am straight. You could not find anyone straighter than me.”
The controversy surrounding Elliot’s sexuality emerged after a blog post included his name among several high-profile Nigerian celebrities alleged to be gay. Despite the rumors, Elliot remained unconcerned, stating, “If some people want to enjoy themselves through publicity, that’s up to them, but I don’t care. Do what you wish, but do it within the law and with consideration for your neighbors.”
Elliot also reiterated his commitment to community service, stating that his work continues to focus on positively impacting others.
