DAVIDO KICKS OFF 5IVE ALIVE TOUR IN AKWA IBOM

Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed why he chose Akwa Ibom State as the first Nigerian stop for his much-anticipated 5ive Alive Tour, citing the state’s world-class infrastructure, serene environment, and commitment to youth empowerment.
Speaking during a pre-concert reception in Uyo, the singer expressed excitement about performing in the state, describing the event as the “best of its kind.”
“I am excited — it’s the best of its kind. We toured America already, and it was a great success. When we were searching for the right facility in Africa, Akwa Ibom stood out. You have a standard facility, that’s why we’re starting here,” Davido said. “The stadium is already filled up, so let’s get ready and shut it down.”
Davido also praised Governor Umo Eno’s administration for fostering peace, security, and opportunities for young creatives.
At the event, Senate President Godswill Akpabio applauded the governor’s leadership, calling him a youth- and sports-friendly leader, and commended Davido for his positive influence on Nigerian youth, urging him to spotlight emerging Akwa Ibom talents on his global stages.
Governor Eno, in turn, thanked Davido for inspiring young people through his hard work and consistency, noting that his success story shows that “dreams are achievable with dedication.”
“We are a youth-friendly state, and we’re working to develop talents. Thank you for sharing the stage with our local entertainers — it shows them that they too can aspire to greatness,” Eno said.
The Akwa Ibom leg marks the official kickoff of Davido’s Nigerian tour, setting a high standard for upcoming performances across the country.
