Spanish Champions, Real Madrid have become European Champions after beating Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Final on Saturday 28th 2022.

The match was played at Stade de France which is the national stadium of France, located just north of Paris in the commune of Saint-Denis. Its seating capacity of 80,698 makes it the seventh-largest stadium in Europe.

Camila Cabello, the 25-year-old Cuban-American pop star took the centre stage during the opening ceremony as Premier League and La Liga heavyweights prepare to lock horns.

The game, which started later than scheduled had Liverpool on brighter of the two sides in the first half. But Jurgen Klopp's boys could not convert their efforts to any goal despite several chances they had to do so.

Towards the end of the first half, Benzema of Real Madrid scored a goal after a scramble in the Liverpool penalty area, but the goal was disallowed after a prolonged VAR check, which was adjudged to be offside.

The winning goal for Real came from Vinicius Jr in the second half.

Real Madrid is winning the Champions League for a record 14th time.

Liverpool and Real Madrid met for the third time in the final of the European Cup/UEFA Champions League. Liverpool won the first final back in 1981 (1-0) before Real Madrid beat Jürgen Klopp’s side 3-1 in 2018.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has faced Real Madrid more times than any other opponent in the UEFA Champions League (9 times), winning just three of those matches.

Carlo Ancelotti is winning the UEFA Champions League for the fourth time; the most by any manager in the competition’s history.
