The Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Akinteye Babatunde, has praised Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his retention in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet following a recent reshuffle. Babatunde expressed that Tunji-Ojo’s continued role is a reaffirmation of trust in his leadership and acknowledgment of the impactful reforms he has implemented within the Ministry of Interior.
In a statement, Babatunde highlighted Tunji-Ojo’s efforts to modernize the Ministry, transforming it from a traditional institution into a proactive body driving change across critical sectors. Among Tunji-Ojo's achievements, he noted the successful clearance of passport application backlogs and the establishment of an online application platform, which has simplified passport services for millions of Nigerians, enhancing service efficiency and accessibility nationwide.
The NANS leader further praised Tunji-Ojo’s transformative work within the correctional system, applauding the Minister’s commitment to turning correctional facilities into centers of reform rather than mere detention spaces. This approach, Babatunde emphasized, provides inmates with opportunities for rehabilitation, instilling dignity and hope.
"Your exceptional leadership, visionary approach, and relentless pursuit of excellence have not only strengthened national security but also restored public confidence in the Ministry of Interior," Babatunde stated.
On behalf of NANS, Babatunde reiterated the association’s support for the Minister’s leadership, acknowledging his impactful contributions and expressing confidence in his continued success. “We stand with you as you continue to lead with excellence and innovation,” he said, adding that Tunji-Ojo’s tenure has been marked by groundbreaking achievements that promise a prosperous future for Nigeria.
